Samsung has stopped providing cloud-storage backup support to its users. The company will start deleting your files beginning September 30, 2021.
If you’ve relied on Samsung Cloud for years, it’s essential to take immediate action to protect your data.
The announcement made by the company
Samsung announced in October last year that it would gradually shut down its Samsung Cloud storage for photos, videos, and files. Only contacts, calendars, and notes will continue being backed up.
Users were advised to move their data to Microsoft OneDrive or download it manually. Note that OneDrive integration is not automatic and may not be available in some regions or on all devices.
The latest update on August 16, 2021, confirmed permanent deletion of Gallery Sync and Drive Storage starting September 30 for users in the US, UK, Europe, and other listed countries. Group 2 regions, including most of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, have a deadline of November 30, 2021.
How to back up your data before it is too late
If you’ve already migrated to OneDrive or downloaded your data, you’re safe. However, if not, the OneDrive option expired on July 31, and your only option now is manual download.
To download your data from Samsung Cloud:
- Open Samsung Cloud app → Download my data.
- Go to Gallery → More → Settings → Download content from cloud.
- Repeat for Samsung Cloud Drive.
- Alternatively, log in to Samsung Cloud Web and download from Gallery or Drive.

After downloading, use a reliable cloud service like Blomp. It offers 20 GB free storage with upgrade options via referrals or small fees.
